CD Lousanense recently hosted a Valencia CF Elite Development Training and Professional Development Coaching Seminar.

The four-day event brought together coaches from our GPS Portugal affiliate and Technical staff from our International Technical partners Valencia CF for the purpose of professional development for the players and coaches at CD Lousanense. Ramon Mompo, from the Valencia CF Technical staff, spent the four days giving insight, training tips, and coaching knowledge over to our GPS Portugal staff and coaches in training and match-day environments. He also worked with directly with our GPS Portugal players, providing feedback and insight for their growth and development.

Training Sessions involving players ranging from U8-U17 were held for players of different ages and talents to be involved in the experience. This allowed our GPS Portugal coaches to receive feedback and grow in all stages of player development, as well as give more of our players the chance to receive guidance and feedback from the Valencia CF Technical Staff. On game day, Ramon was in the dressing room and dugout providing assistance with match-day game plans, preparation, and coaching tips, as well as post-game analysis. Ramon also gave several presentations to the staff discussing the Valencia CF Methodology and player development stages.

Philip Mitchell, GPS International Liaison, who was in attendance, said the following regarding this event:

“Events like this one at GPS Portugal allow for consistent and successful training methods across our GPS programs. Big thank you to Valencia CF, more specifically Ramon, for coming out to this event to share his extensive knowledge with the GPS Portugal staff. Well done to GPS Portugal staff members, specifically Ricardo, Armando, and Sergio for hosting and participating in this great event. The GPS Portugal coaches and players responded well to feedback and remained engaged and receptive throughout this event and we look forward to seeing their future developments.”
